Sandwich Bread in Your Bread Machine

by Krisha on January 26, 2014

We've been making all of our bread with a bread machine lately. With five kids eating toast and sandwiches, we were going through a lot of bread. I decided to try a bread machine, and it's so much easier than I thought.

I tried the whole wheat bread recipe that came with my bread maker, but it was a bit dry and not a hit with all the kids. After experimenting a few more recipes from other blogs and recipe sites, I ended up with this one.

Now that I have the ingredients memorized (I make this about every other day), it takes about three minutes to throw all the ingredients into the bread maker, and 3-4 hours later, we have fresh bread. The whole family loves it, it's easy to slice, and it's made with simple ingredients.

Whole Wheat Honey Oat Sandwich Bread

1 1/2 cups water

1 1/2 tablespoons canola oil

1/4 cup honey

2 tablespoons brown sugar

1 1/2 teaspoons salt

3/4 cup rolled oats

3 1/2 cups white whole wheat flour (I use King Arthur brand)

1 1/2 teaspoons active dry yeast

Combine the ingredients according to your bread machine's instructions and cook on whole wheat bread setting.
