Slow Cooker Turkey Meatballs

by Krisha on April 26th, 2012

I found this "recipe" (and I use that term lightly) on a running blog, and I can't locate which one it was now. But this has become at least a bi-weekly weeknight meal in my house, because the kids love it, it is reasonably healthy, it feels homemade, and it takes almost no time to prepare.

All you need are three ingredients:

  • A jar of pasta sauce (buy a large one if you want a lot of extra sauce; with only a small one it dries out a bit)
  • A bag of frozen turkey meatballs
  • Whole wheat pasta (I use spaghetti or linguini)

Here's what to do:

  1. Add your sauce and meatballs to a slow cooker and cook on low about four hours (the original recipe I found said you could leave them in longer if you want, but I usually leave them in 4-6).
  2. Prepare your pasta according to package directions, and serve with meatballs and sauce.

It really couldn't be easier. But it does turn out good. I think slow cooking the meatballs in the sauce gives them an extra punch of flavor.
