Al Fresco Dining

It's the day before the first official day of spring, and the weather here in the northeast is summer like. It was the perfect day for a picnic lunch. While I had hoped to pick up my 3-year old from preschool and head over to the park for lunch, time got away from me and we ended up having our picnic right on our back porch. Convenient and simple, yet fun and different. He loved it.

Picnics are particularly exciting for kids, perhaps it's the veering away from the traditional dining setting, or the fresh air, or a little of both. And you don't have to go to an exotic location, a picnic in your back yard will do just fine. Hopefully warmth and sunshine has found it's way to your part of the world, but if not, pick a sunny day, bundle up, and head outdoors with a sandwich and a thermos of hot cocoa.

So whether you opt for a mid-morning snack on your front stoop, a picnic in the park, or a full sit down dinner on your back porch, mix up your routine with some outside dining.
